Herndon Summer Camps

Designed to inspire and make technology learning fun and excited, our camps, which run weekly from June 17th through August 16th, allow youth the opportunity to take TIME to Tinker, Innovate, Make and Explore with the latest technology tools, including drones, 3D printers. laser engravers, wearable technologies, and more. In a given week, campers will build drones, cameras, and computers, use 3D printers to build awesome projects, and learn about machine learning while building an autonomous vehicle through a series of fun software and hardware projects. Our caring and talented instructors support and guide even the youngest of learners through a fun-filled, engaging week of activities. Join us...let's make AWESOME together!

Below you will find information about weekly themes for our Herndon summer camps held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church located at 1090 Sterling Rd, Herndon, VA 20170.

          Half-day camps run from 9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm, and are priced at $150 through March 31st-regular price for one week of half-day camp is $175/week. Full-day camps run from 9am-4pm, and are priced at $250 through March 31st-regular price for one week of full-day camp is $275/week. Register early, slots are filling fast. Free after and before care is available from 8am-9am and 4pm-5pm.

At Einstein By Design we practice the Innovator Mindset, tools which strengthen our communication, collaboration, creative and critical thinking skills. Children then complete these applied-technology adventures with a focus on 3D printing, digital arts, making, tinkering, designing, engineering and robotics, electronic circuitry and computer programming.

Are you curious about how computers work? If so, come join us in this awesome learning experience as you not only learn how to create software, such as games and apps, but also learn how to make a computer system using a Raspberry Pi. You will then learn to code as you learn about computer science applications ranging from hardware to software.  In this class, you'll not only learn how to use technology, but also how to create it. Take your tech skills to the next level through our engaging and fun camp!

Learn to design, build and fly your very own drone! In this exciting, hands on class, you will learn about the design, fabrication, and safe operation of drones by building their very own mini-quadcopter, which is a fully functional drone You will learn how to solder and identify key electronic and mechanical components, as well as how to troubleshoot and repair your build, as necessary. At the end of the program, you will have a fully functional Mini-Quadcopter to FLY home!

Do you want to try out new and inventive ways to prepare food? Each day is a delectable field trip that delves into gastronomy: the study of food and culture. We will play with textures and unconventional flavors using molecular lab tools to produce tasty and exciting dishes. Campers will learn professional techniques while learning about the science of nutrition as they prepare culinary delights of their own.

Kids have heard of driver-less cars, but do they know how the automobiles are programmed? Campers will explore how to design a fully functioning remote controlled car from scratch.  They will also have lots of fun designing and testing complex race courses. An end of session showcase will be held for students to demonstrate their builds.

Everyone has heard of Fit-Bits and smart watches, but how many folks can create these types of technology. Campers will complete a Smart Watch Build. This class serves as a platform for building technology skills in both software and hardware design in a fun and engaging environment.

The next Mark Zuckerberg could be among our campers.From hardware hacking to software programming, campers will be exposed to the latest technologies, along with branding and design concept building to successfully launch a startup.  At the end of the program students will compete for various prizes, including a $100 scholarship and various tech kits. Area experts from the fields of technology and business will be on hand to provide constructive feedback. Ready, set, launch!

This creative introduction to STEM takes campers through a variety of activities aimed at learning beginning concepts of science, technology, engineering, and art with a tie in to literature and math. They are exposed to vocabulary, lab equipment, scientific process and the engineering design process in a fun and engaging environment. Scheduled Interactive Sessions this week Include: Superhero Science and Slime Time.
